Something I always wanted to try
Cool thing about guns, with proper care they last forever.
1 warning though, becareful shooting lotas steel shot through one, it'll wear
a thin spot in the barrel.
Shooting is good sport. Sharpens eye hand coordination (skeet shootin espicaly)
Target shooting is great fun, can be expenisive or not depending. .22 ammo is, i guess still dirt cheap. I bought several 500 round bricks years ago, aint bought any lately.
Muzzle loaders are cheap to shoot, takes time to load and if the type with deep rifleing or lands require a quick patch cleaning after 3 shots or you run the risk of hanging a ball on reload......A real pain havin to pull a ball.
In my oppinion shooting should be part of everyones upbringing. Guns are olny dangerous when combined with gun iggorance. (in relation to accidental shootings)
Most of the guns I own are older that me Haupt
My newest is in fact my TC shadowhawk .50 muzzle loader. My oldest is a model 4 remington .22 rolling block which though worse for wear on the outside is still good barrelwise and still dead accurate. |

I won't shoot steel. Lead only.
Actualy, all but 3 of my guns are older than I am... lol
Skeet sounds like fun, but I don't think there is a place around that does it. And they throw doubles. I would be garenteed a 50% miss rate cause I can't reload that fast... lol |

Oh man, where do I start on this one LOL! Shooting shotguns absolutely ROCKS! As I was telling Zeke yesterday, I just bought a new Beretta and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. Haupt, trap is great fun. I used to shoot in a league and often won high gun for the season. There is such a thing as trap doubles which is a bit tough. Skeet is great fun. Much more action than trap. Skeet shooters often call trap an "old mans game". I think skeet also teaches you to handle your gun better because of the different angles of target presentation and of course the doubles. Sporting clays does this to an even greater extent as each course is different, much like golf, and usually even has a rabbit (ground) shot mixed in there somewhere. Down side to sporting clays is the cost per round.
Be careful with the old guns. I have a small collection of L.C. Smith double barrel guns and they used to be all I'd shoot with. As they say a picture's worth a thousand words.
Now I can only flip people off with my right hand, LOL.
Sometime if you find yourself across the lake then look me up and we'll go shoot at my club. Zeke can always get a hold of me. |

You in Skonsin?
And OUCH!!!!
My gun is old but in good shape.
The club I belong to has trap but no skeet. I am bad enough right now that I wil brush up with trap. lol Last week was the first time I have had a shotgun out in about 8 years. And wow do I suck. I am averaging a 8... |

I'm in Illinois but could practically throw a stone into the land of cheese from here as I'm only 6 miles from the state line. That gun in the picture was one I had used for years and had fired it literally thousands of times. It was my favorite waterfowl gun and I only shot bismuth through it when hunting. I guess its age and wear and tear finally caught up with it on that early morning in the goose pit. Ah well, I get a 10% discount on all manicures now. |

Ok, if you make to michigan let me know. I am about 2.5 hours from chicago.
I avoid illinios due to the gun laws for the most part and would be rather nevious about taking a gun through chicago where the second amendment doesn't seem to apply. |

| Take I-80 to I-294 and avoid Chicago. Luckily the rest of the state (Morton Grove excepted) still follows the Constitution. Guns must simply be cased and unloaded when being transported. I doubt we'll ever have legal concealed carry here but you know the old saying, "I rather be judged by twelve than carried by six". With that in mind I carry when I feel a genuine need to and hide it well. I am a life member of the NRA so that should tell you how I feel about useless gun control laws. |
